Pinky Promise Studios blossomed from the love story between best friends Margaret Bartimole and Starla Cosgrove. After meeting in the art building at Earlham College, they quickly began making art for each other. Although separated by their respective Ceramic and Fiber studios, their art seemed to poke at the same playfulness, love for natural materials and craft tradition, and their investment in making objects that looked and felt connected to the hands of the maker.

Starla makes colorful woven scarves, blankets, rugs and sculptural household objects using a mixture of fiber techniques on and off the loom. Margaret makes ceramic objects in the sgraffito tradition, and carves narratives onto pots. Together they are collaborating on lamps, sculptures, and their philosophy of making as they build their studio in Saint Paul , Minnesota.
